Sydney is full of great shopping opportunities. From the boutiques of Balmain to local craft and farmers’ markets, discover what makes Sydney a world-class shopping hub.
One of the best places to start shopping in Sydney is Pitt Street Mall, located between Market, George, King and Castlereagh Streets. The mall includes boutique shops, department stores and shopping arcades as well as Westfield Sydney, one of the newest and most impressive shopping centres in Sydney.
The beautiful historic arcades of The Strand and the QVB (Queen Victoria Building) are the perfect spots to while away the afternoon shopping for luxury fashion. Take a stroll down Oxford Street and discover sophisticated outlets all the way from Paddington to Woollahra, or head to nearby Surry Hills for vintage clothing.
In the Inner West, Newtown is known for its eclectic clothing stores, while Darling Street, which runs from Rozelle to Balmain, is great for antique hunting.
Sydney is also blessed with a variety of fantastic markets. For an amazing range of vintage clothing, handmade and secondhand goods and international food, check out the Glebe Markets (Saturdays), Bondi Markets (Sundays) and Rozelle Markets (Saturdays and Sundays). The Rocks Markets is held on weekends and specialises in handmade arts and crafts, while the Carriageworks Farmers Markets in Eveleigh offer an array of fresh, local produce every Saturday.
