International labels

Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Burberry, Tiffany and Hermes can all be found in the heart of the city around King and Castlereagh streets. Luxury labels like Celine, Fendi, Christian Louboutin, Gucci, Givenchy, Mui Mui, Prada and Tom Ford all have stores inside the impressive Westfield Sydney shopping centre.

Local designers

Australian designers are among the world’s best and Sydney is the place to pick up home grown pieces. The Insta-worthy old world Strand Arcade is home to local designers Alex Perry, Bassike, Camilla and Marc, Aje, Dion Lee, Rebecca Vallance, Ginger + Smart, Thurley, Scanlan Theodore, Manning Cartell, Lover and Akira Igosawa.

High-end local labels like Zimmerman, Camilla, Sass and Bide, Alice McCall and Rachel Gilbert are found at The Intersection, a leafy outdoor shopping precinct in Paddington.

Shop for fashion forward pieces at P.E Nation in David Jones or flouncy dresses, blouses and smart playsuits by Sydney locals Bec+Bridge at Westfield Bondi Junction. Sydney’s contemporary SIR the Label has made Manly home for its first flagship store. The whimsical creations of Sydney designer Alice McCall can be found at her eponymous store in Westfield Sydney. For minimalist leather goods head to Newtown’s alternative shopping precinct for Status Anxiety’s flagship store.

Hip boutiques

Paddington’s Oxford Street is home to Parlour X, a striking luxury boutique offering a carefully curated mix of local and international labels inside a historic sandstone church. Upscale fashion emporium Tuchuzy in Bondi is the place for pared back luxury wear and cult labels. Annex, also in Bondi, stocks clean cut threads including alternative local label Injury for the stylish man about town.

Parlour X - Paddington - Oxford Street

Head to ACO in leafy Double Bay for a curated collection of 50 designer labels from around the globe. In Barangaroo, you’ll find Shirt Bar, a boutique/small bar hybrid where you can pick up a stylish shirt or have a suit custom made while sipping rare single malt whisky.

Department stores

Prefer a one-stop shop? Sydney’s main department stores, Myer and David Jones, both stock luxe local and international labels and offer services like personal shopping and stylists. At Barangaroo, David Jones has opened a small, boutique store that specialises in high-end labels. Harrold’s in the CBD meanwhile is a family owned department store specialising in sought-after luxury labels. Both a style concierge and made to measure suit service are also on offer.

Jewellery & custom-made pieces

Looking for something sparkly or custom made? Discover the world’s rarest pearls at Paspaley’s Martin Place boutique. Fairfax & Roberts is Australia’s oldest jeweller and has been creating bespoke pieces since 1886. Jan Logan in Double Bay is a celebrity favourite, multi-international award winner and design icon while Sydney is also home to cubism maestro Canturi.

Revered resin-based jewellery and homewares brand Dinosaur Designs  is found in Paddington (and the Strand Arcade), while the Northern Beaches showroom of Natalie Marie’s handcrafted collection is in Avalon. Castlereagh, George and Pitt Streets in Sydney’s CBD are meanwhile home to some of the world’s leading jewellery design stores. Here you’ll find Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Bulgari, J Farren Price and Georg Jensen.
