The dining room at Ho Jiak Strathfield offers a modern take on an open-air hawkers market, transporting you straight to the streets of Penang in Malaysia. The menu follows suit, conceptualised by head chef and owner Junda Khoo and business partner William Xie. Like its sister restaurants across Sydney, the Strathfield location puts a twist on traditional recipes handed down through generations of Chinese Malays.

Think char koay teow overflowing with moreish stir-fried rice noodles, doused in delicious seafood and spicy Chinese sausage, and topped with market-fresh king prawns. Or nasi goreng packed full of incredible flavour, topped with the perfect sunny-side-up egg, and made jumbo sized because there’s no doubt you’ll want more. There are plenty of options for vegetarians as well. Don’t miss ordering one of the Malaysian-style milk teas, which are sweet and packed with flavour.
