This site was home to Menangle School between 1871 and 1976. In 2008, many years after the school closed its doors, the Department of Education announced the sale and subdivision of the site. The community of Menangle fought hard to save the school from being demolished and in 2013, the site was bought by Wollondilly Shire Council.

Planned works were completed in 2024 and the site was reopened as a key recreation destination for families to visit, stay and play for the day. The park has been thoughtfully designed and includes a playground and nature play areas, a multi-purpose half court (interchangeable for basketball or netball), Table Tennis Table, and push-button electric BBQ and shelter facilities.
