Think of all the Indian bain-marie canteens you know. Now reimagine them through the eyes of a young owner with a retro reverence to the past. You have kitsch, fun decorations (cute tiled walls, old editions of Women’s Weekly and framed football jerseys); music befitting a vibey bar and a menu that’s both familiar and playful.
You can easily find yourself with a plate of butter chicken and rice, or some chips with butter chicken gravy on the side to dip into. On Tuesdays you’ll be eating momos (Nepalese dumplings) and on other nights you might see kingfish atop a papadum or a tandoori fried chicken burger. On Friday and Saturday, you can eat them at midnight too.
