Whether you’re looking for events today, tomorrow, the next 14 days or beyond, the Sydney calendar is full of vibrant, exciting, intriguing and memorable experiences. The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House hosts hundreds of outstanding performances every year.
Reserve your seats for musicals, shows and concerts in Sydney. Other fabulous venues in Sydney include the Capitol Theatre, the State Theatre, Sydney Lyric, the Roslyn Packer Theatre, the Theatre Royal, and the ICC in Darling Harbour. Big spectacles are held at Sydney Olympic Park arenas as well.
You’ll discover cutting-edge shows at smaller venues, such as the Belvoir St Theatre and the Enmore Theatre. There are wonderful festivals, too. The eclectic Sydney Festival is in January. Vivid Sydney is held over several weeks in May and June, illuminating the city with amazing digital light shows.
There are special occasions on NSW public holidays. Australia Day is January 26. The national day celebrates Australia’s diversity and achievements. The main stage is Sydney Harbour, one of the world’s great natural harbours. A lovely way to enjoy the waterway is on a ferry or harbour cruise.
ANZAC Day is April 25, a national day of remembrance and commemoration. This solemn day remembers all Australians who have served and died in war and on operational service. Dawn services, wreath laying, marches and commemorative services are held across Sydney and NSW.
With excellent galleries and museums, there are marvellous exhibitions. The Art Gallery of NSW and the Australian Museum are in the city centre. The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is in the historic Rocks. You’ll find convenient public transport options to and from most events in Sydney.
