Surry Hills bar Tio’s has been squeezing lime into margaritas for more than 10 years, during which time they’ve sold more than 100,000 of the salt-rimmed drinks. Serving students, locals and tequila nerds with Mexican beers, mezcal, fun cocktails and free bags of Old El Paso-flavoured popcorn, this colourful, cosy and religious-kitsch-filled haunt is a relaxed but lively place to start, end or spend the evening. Open every night except Monday, grab a fruity, weekly-changing $10 margarita and some nachos or chips with guacamole to help balance out that tequila.
