Come to Rosie’s for the tropical vibes, bright colours and vintage charm, and stay for the excellent fruity cocktails – think Mai Tai Funk and Jamaican Jungle – and Jamaican jerk cuisine, with a bit of an American twist. This restaurant is seriously fun, with upbeat music (often live) and crowds that match the vibe. People are here to have a good time.
The food is just as creative. Start with small plates of plantain fritters, crispy wings with your choice of sauce, Kingston coconut pepper prawns and jerk-fried cauliflower, or JFC. Then move onto larger dishes including curried goat, oxtail stew and softshell crab tacos. Every order should contain a plate of the house’s famous chargrilled jerk chicken. It’s a staple. There’s only one ‘sweet ting’ on the menu, and that’s the rum cake with coconut caramel, vanilla bean ice cream and coconut flakes. Don’t miss it.
