Countrylink Parkes Elvis Festival - Markets, Exhibitions and Shows, Festivals and Celebrations, Performances
More than 8,000 Elvis fans will gather in the Central New South Wales town of Parkes to celebrate Elvis Presley's birthday in January. Record crowds are expected for the Countrylink Parkes Elvis Festival in January 2009.
A five day program of events will feature look-a-like and sound-a-like contests, the Elvis Street Parade, Elvis talent quests, displays of Elvis memorabilia, an Elvis Gospel Church Service and more than 120 individual events.
The Elvis Gospel Church Service has become a much-loved feature on the festival program. This special interdenominational service will return in 2009 to again pay tribute to Elvis' first love - gospel music.
Highlight of Events include:
Wednesday 7th January
5pm - Late Enjoy free live entertainment at the Parkes Leagues Club.
Thursday 8th January
7am ClubsNSW Elvis Poet's Breakfast, Parkes Bowling and Sports Club. $25 per person.
6.30pm Transtank Miss Priscilla Dinner. A great night of entertainment including the official sashing of Miss Priscilla. Parkes Services Club. $45 per person.
7pm El Gamble's Tribute to the King Show. Parkes Leagues Club. $30 per person.
Friday 9th January
8pm Keno Feature Concert proudly supported by ClubsNSW featuring Mark Andrew. He's got the moves, the voice and the looks. $40 per person. Parkes Leagues Club.
Saturday 10th January
10am Elvis Street Parade.
11am - 8pm Free entertainment in Cooke Park.
3pm Keno Feature Concert proudly supported by ClubsNSW featuring Mark Andrew. He's got the moves, the voice and the looks. $40, child rate available.
